You can have a wonderful book, with a well-prepared keynote and workshop materials, but surviving the professional speaking world requires B.I.T.S. – “Butts In The Seats.” 

For nonfiction writers that means finding speaking engagements, upping your delivery game, and more!  Through a series of 5 half-day virtual workshops, we’ll do just that!

Session #1 – Sourcing Speaking Opportunities

September 27th – Half Day Workshop

We’ll look at numerous techniques to connect and develop strong relationships with speakers’ bureaus, meeting planners, speaking agents, corporate accounts, along with a handful of networking techniques, and multiple ways to address pricing.

Session 2 – The Business Side of Professional Speaking

October 4th – Half Day Workshop

We’ll explore various ways to build your brand and move your books, but most importantly of all, sell your services in a variety of ways.  Spoiler Alert: Two of my books are about selling, and my topic of choice has always been teaching people how to sell.

Session 3 – The Nuts & Bolts of Professional Delivery

October 11th – Half Day Workshop

We’ll put a variety of techniques and process behaviors on the table, applicable to both keynote deliveries and workshop deliveries. There are a lot of people who speak, but professional speakers are in a class by themselves.  Professional presentations carry professional fees, and the expectations of the audience are high.  

Session 4 – Applying The Sauce to your Deliveries

October 18th – Half Day Workshop

We’ll put away the cooking aprons, and look at ways to spice up your presentations because delivering a presentation is like cooking a meal.  The sauce is what ultimately provides the flavor, enhances the experience, and elevates the dish from a meal to a memory.  You’ll learn multiple techniques to add the sauce to your words and actions to truly elevate your presentation.

Session 5 – Presentation Delivery & Feedback

October 25th – Variable

For presentation feedback, participants are given a choice between two different delivery formats:

  1. Half-Day Group Delivery & Coaching: A lot can be learned through the eyes and support of a group of presenters.  Limited to six participants, each attendee will deliver a 16-20 minute virtual presentation incorporating multiple delivery techniques.
  2. 90-Minute Private Coaching Session: This personal coaching session will be designed by the participants themselves with options to work on topics like:

    • Keynote adjustment, creation & brainstorming.  
    • Workshop adjustment, creation & brainstorming.
    • Breaking down existing delivery footage.
    • Podcasting performance skills.
    • Book marketing on a budget.
    • Flushing out business ideas.
    • Business consulting.

Costs

The Complete Program

Fee: $1,500.  Program fee covers four, half-day workshops, and one, 90-minute personal coaching session.  All workshop presentations include participant guides that support each delivery.
